David leadership role even before Saul was not king must have been somewhat difficult for him. It’s just interesting to see how the people around him recognized him as being the one to lead them. And maybe that was what affirmed in his mind and hard that he was doing what God wanted him to do. Good example for me to listen to the feedback of people around me when it comes to fulfilling the work. I think God wants me to do.

I’ve read many times in the Bible about being humble. Today, finding out that in the Roman or Greek societies humility was not considered a thing to strive for or to be humble. So what a challenge for Christians to separate themselves from ungodly thinking and work on understanding, how to apply that in their day-to-day lives. Especially when sometimes were the leader and sometimes were the follower and both cases we are encouraged to be humble.

I did find it surprising that Samuel was grieving over his lost relationship with Saul. And then God used him to go find the next king who was David. I’m trying to imagine what it must’ve been like at that time and be in fear of what Saul might do, just like we humans cannot think like God does sometimes it’s hard to understand other humans. As long as we’re following God and we will stay safe and not worry about what other people think or do.
