I think the account of Abrams, Sarai and Hagar bring some important lessons to mind. First, we have to remember the culture that was at that time and we can’t compare that or imitate that in the world we live in today. It’s full of seeing God fulfill his promises, even when we want to run away from him. I hadn’t put it together that Abram was blessed before and after circumcision. So both Jews and gentiles and all people can be blessed with God’s grace if we have faith that empowers action in
